What I learned from My (Strictly Limited) Experiment with Synthetic Lace Front Wigs

Body

Considering that my toppers will not be joining me for the foreseeable future, I figured it was about time I started getting comfortable with the "W. "

Isn't it true that you're aware of it? This is a massive W-I-G.  Yes, you did read that correctly: a wig is included.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Is it a frightening experience?

For a variety of reasons, I decided to try out a synthetic lace front curlyme hair for the first time.  First and foremost, as you are aware, I appreciate the ease with which synthetic hair can be styled.  Beyond the fact that it does not fall flat in humid weather (which prevails for 90% of the year where I live), the fact that it requires no styling is a plus in my book.  First and foremost, a large number of people I know advocate for synthetic lace front wigs rather than non-lace front wigs because they appear more natural than non-lace front wigs.  I've seen some incredible synthetic lace front wigs on blondes in particular, and I'm not the only one who has noticed this.

You might be wondering why blondes are chosen for this position.

For the part that covers your forehead and appears to be hair growing out of your scalp (which can be either synthetic or human hair), lace front wigs are exactly what they sound like: they have a band of lace-like material that extends over your forehead to give the appearance that hair is growing out of your scalp.  I've found that it works particularly well for looks that are off the top of the head.  Those with severely receding hairlines (check!) or those suffering from complete alopecia (see below) should also consider investing in this product.  In contrast, the problem with some lace fronts is that the hair is knotted (in order to keep it in place) just beneath the lace, which can be a source of irritation.  It is possible to bleach out the knot underneath the lace if you are wearing a human hair wig so that it is no longer visible underneath the lace.  Chemically treated hair, on the other hand, cannot be bleached. . . . Thus, the knot can be seen clearly and appears as a dot on the graph paper.  If you have lighter hair (as I mentioned in my previous comment about blondes), this isn't usually a problem, but it can be with brown and darker hair colors in certain situations.  My concern was that my hair pieces would be visible, which was a little concerning because, as you can imagine, I want them to be as undetectable as possible.

The following is a list of my (strictly limited) experiences with synthetic lace front wigs:

The first thing I notice when I'm wearing it is that I'm extremely sensitive to the fact that I'm, well, wearing a body wave lace front wigs, which is a good thing.  This is something I've never had the pleasure of experiencing before.  At the time I first started wearing my toppers, I remember being acutely aware of the fact that they were resting on my bald head.  The sensation of wearing something will diminish with time, I believe, and my feelings about wigs now are similar to my feelings then.  Even though I had to wear my toppers for several days, they were quickly forgotten, and it's possible that the same will be true when it comes to wigs.  The fact is that I am not regularly donning hairpieces; rather, I am trying them out to see how they work for me.  Until such time as I am completely committed to them, I will be a little out of sorts for the foreseeable future. "

Getting the wig to fit properly is the other aspect that will take some time to achieve perfection.  Depending on the brand and style of synthetic lace front wig (in fact, all wigs, really), some can be purchased in smaller or larger cap sizes; my Brazilian human hair bob wigs, however, was only available in a standard size when I purchased it.  Even though I believe it is a good fit (? ), having something that feels secure at both the nape of the neck and the forehead feels a little constricting.  A lace front dress has many advantages, and one of them is the fact that the lace is a stretchy material.  This makes the dress feel nice and secure, which is an added benefit.  According to my observations, the weight has not decreased (there are products that can assist with this, which I will blog about soon, promise!)Velcro fasteners are also included in the nape area, which allows you to customize the fit to your liking.  They should be very tight, and if they are too loose, the wig will feel strange as well.  I believe that if they are not very tight, the wholesale hair vendors will feel strange as well.  This will be documented in greater detail in my upcoming blog post, which will be published shortly.

No amount of emphasis can be placed on how certain I am that the strangeness I'm experiencing is due to the fact that I am unfamiliar with wearing wigs, and it is disheartening to be experiencing it once more (it has been SO long since I have!).  Despite my growing confidence in wigs and makeup, I am well aware that I will need to continue practicing and playing until I feel more at ease.
