Which Color Braces Should I Choose for My Teeth?

When considering which braces colors to choose, you may wonder how the different colors of braces affect your teeth and the aesthetic appearance of your smile. Using a color wheel as a guide, let’s take a look at each color and what it says about you or your child’s smile.

Why you should consider getting colored braces

When it comes to getting braces, there are a variety of colors that you can choose from. While adults may shy away from colored braces because they want their teeth to appear natural, teenagers and children who are more likely to be influenced by popular culture are all about picking out a unique color. We know what you’re thinking: how can I pick a cool color for my braces without ending up with purple teeth or looking silly when I smile? That’s why we did some research and came up with our guide to choosing an awesome color based on what makes each one special. Read on! There are plenty of great reasons why you should consider using colored ceramic braces in place of traditional metal ones

The color wheel

The braces color wheel is an easy way to determine which colors work well together. The size of your face and eyes (and even your skin tone) can affect how a color looks on you, so make sure to experiment with a variety of colors in person before committing to one or two. Plus, change is good—braces are a great way to try new colors and styles! Keep in mind that brightness isn’t everything when it comes to braces color; if you have light eyes, something more muted might look better against them than a bright hue. Also keep in mind that what looks good on someone else may not look good on you, so choose something that complements your skin tone as best as possible. The closer it matches, generally speaking, the better.

The best colors for braces

when you’re picking a color scheme, you want to look at how your braces will appear in certain environments, and also balance it out with your wardrobe. Obviously, white or clear braces are best if you’re wearing dark clothing, while lighter colors can help make your teeth appear brighter. If you don’t know where to start, ask your orthodontist which color is right for you; they'll most likely know by looking at pictures of other patients' smiles and choosing accordingly. However, regardless of what color scheme is right for you, it's important to keep in mind that aesthetics should take a backseat when selecting a product that goes inside someone's mouth.

Purple braces are hot right now!

In dentistry, there are two types of braces—traditional braces and clear or ceramic braces. While both work similarly to realign teeth, those who opt for clear orthodontic appliances do so because they don’t want to be confined by a set color palette. Perhaps they want their braces to blend in with their smile or simply prefer not to show that they’re wearing any sort of appliance at all. Clear orthodontic appliances also provide additional benefits such as being less noticeable than metal fixtures and smoother than ceramic ones.

What about clear braces

Many people choose clear braces and you’re probably wondering why, right? You may want to consider clear braces because they blend with teeth and people won’t be able to tell that you’re wearing them. They will go a long way in enhancing your confidence and self-esteem. On top of that, many people who have worn them say that they don’t feel as much discomfort from their bite issues once they have these colored braces in place. Another benefit is that these are easier to clean than other kinds of braces. They are available for adults as well as kids, so anyone can wear them.

What about black braces

Black is not recommended as a first choice, as it can take more than twice as long to achieve comparable results compared to other color options. If you must go with black, consider a dark grey color instead. This will make your teeth appear whiter and brighter without looking like you have gross-looking braces on at all times. Black may be appropriate if you are in your late teens or early twenties and want to grow out of them quickly, but it is an advanced decision that requires much more intensive maintenance (brushing longer, stronger flossing etc.). You should consult with your orthodontist before making such an important decision.

Are there other colors available?

So, you’ve decided to go with traditional metal braces and have a few options to choose from when it comes to color. First, there are clear braces if you’re looking for something less noticeable. Then there are various hues of white or tooth-colored metal that blend in with your teeth so they don’t stand out so much. There are also metal options that add splashes of color, such as gold and pink. For example, some people opt for gold braces because they feel it helps their smile pop a little more. If you're interested in adding a bit of flair to your smile, consider one of these colors!
