Comebacks are nice! Especially, of course, when the colorway that's about to return hasn't been produced in this way for 23 years. In 1996 the iconic Nike Air Force 1 SC was released in the »Ivory Snake« colourway.
The upper was made of white premium
jordan 4 metallic purple leather, the Swoosh and the heel area were kept in a snake look. At the same time very simple and yet extraordinary. After all, that was at a time when animal prints on sneakers were still rather rare.
At that time, Snakeskin was known from the Air Python from 1987, which was definitely ahead of its time in terms of model technology and above all the daring color combination, and some Cortez' from the late 80s. Both could have served as inspiration. Even today, snakeskin stands for luxury,
In 1996, the shoe was part of an Air Force pack, with the second shoe also sporting faux snakeskin on the Swoosh and heel. The Obsidian variant also stood out due to the outsole in the same color.
With the Ivory Colorwy, however, we particularly like the fact that the sole is white, since the whole design looks a bit glamorous due to the snake pattern, but remains simple thanks to the white sole and also collects its points as an understatement shoe!
A special feature of the "Ivory Snake" at the time was that, according to our information, it was "Asia Only", i.e. it was probably only sold in Asia.
Therefore, firstly, only very, very few pairs made it to Europe in the 1990s, secondly, we are certain that for this reason there are probably far fewer "OG" shoes in existence. One pair that made it to the UK early on is
jordan 4 metallic purple owned by none other than Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, who sported the shoes at a photoshoot during an interview with British music magazine Q in April 1997. Absolute icon, absolute celebrity moment!
Now if that wasn't a sneaker history lesson! Now the swing to the present follows. 23 years after the original release of the SC Pack, Nike has decided to re-release the »Ivory Snake« colorway of the Air Force 1.
This time without the Obsidian Colorway, but this time worldwide, so also in Germany and at 43½. The Nike Air Force 1 Low PRM QS »Ivory Snake« will be available on May 22nd. out with us - of course online as well as instore in FFM and Fulda!
