Terms and Conditions of a Rental Agreement: A Quick Guide

A free rental agreement in California is a legally binding contract between a landlord and a tenant with regards to a specific property - that is supposed to be given on lease for a particular period of time in exchange for money, a service etc.

A rental lease agreement needs to have various important terms and conditions, so that the rental relationship between the landlord and the tenant can be smoothly defined and it can remain so for the entire duration of the rental lease period. Know about some of the important terms and conditions that this kind of an agreement must have.

Rental period / duration

The rental contract needs to specify the exact duration of the rental period or how long the property would be used by the tenant. The start date and end date of the lease period must be mentioned in the document, so that there is no argument or confusion regarding the same in the minds of either party or anyone who is witness to the signing of the agreement.

Rights of both parties

The rights of the tenant as well as the landlord should be mentioned clearly in the rental contract, so that there is no confusion at a later point of time. For instance, whether the tenant can park his vehicle in the premises, use the lift etc needs to be written in the contract.
