Beginner's Guide to Powerlifting

Body

Powerlifting is incredibly empowering and freeing. You get to create goals for your body and then break through those goals. You gain newfound strength and gain confidence to go after everything else you deserve. There are some things you need to know to get started.

What is Powerlifting?

Powerlifting basically involves three types of lifts: the bench, deadlift and squat. That said, you don’t want to limit yourself to just these three lifts because you need to strengthen the rest of your body too. You need to perform other types of lifts in order to strengthen your body to perform the first above mentioned three lifts.

You don’t have to bulk up in order to powerlift. People you wouldn’t suspect can lift heavy amounts. However, you will gain some muscle. If you train correctly, you can gain both muscles and strength.

You can powerlift to compete, which falls under different weight divisions. You can do it “raw” or “assisted,” which means you can powerlift without the use of wraps or with (respectively). However, you can do this purely for yourself too. You can keep a weight storage system at home and train there. Visit this website if you need a weight storage system.

Maximize Your Training

After you have learned about how to powerlift, you will need to decide on a schedule to follow for the week. Powerlifting entails working out multiple times per week. You’ll also need to decide on how and when you will be eating to make sure you’re having enough protein, carbohydrates and fats and to watch your overall nutrition.

Choose the Right Equipment

To powerlift, you need to have the right equipment, such as a weight storage system. You will want good equipment and to be prepared, so that you don’t have lulls in the time you should be increasing your weights. You can purchase everything you need, including a weight storage system from Tempo to be prepared.
