Do I Need a Roadworthy Certificate Cairns?

When selling a vehicle, the Department of Transport and Main Roads requires that you and your potential buyer both get their vehicles inspected by a reputable car workshop. If one or both parties fail or refuse to do so, the Department will not be able to grant you roadworthy certificate cairns, nor will they allow an uncontested registration transfer, meaning that your vehicle could be deregistered once it expires.

What Do I Do With The Roadworthy Certificate Cairns?

You will need to visit the Customer Service Centre of the Department of Transport. Once you are there, you should give them your out-of-date roadworthy certificate and the one that they issue to you. They will then update the Department's records. If you do not get a new Certificate within 60 days or before exceeding 2000km, it will stop being valid. A new one can be issued, so don't worry!

Who Can Issue a Safety Certificate?

A safety certificate can only be issued by a licensed assessor. At Totally Mobile Roadworthy, all of our assessors are licensed and accredited safety inspectors.

How Long Does It Take to Complete an Inspection?

The inspection process can take up to an hour, so we advise you to go early to make sure it will not be a wasted trip. The evaluation is comprised of the following steps: 1) assessment 2) road test 3) written report is given at the end.

How Long Does a Mobile Roadworthy Certificate Cairns?

A roadworthy certificate is valid for 60 days from the date it is issued. This is the timeframe set by transport and not by Totally Mobile Roadworthy.

When Can a Safety Certificate be Issues?

A certificate of Roadworthiness can only be issued after a vehicle passes a safety inspection by one of our expert teams.

What Will Inspected?

A roadworthy inspection is a test designed to keep poorly maintained cars, trucks, and trailers off the roads that strictly focuses on major components of the vehicle's engine, body, and undercarriage. At Totally Mobile Roadworthy, we provide 100% genuine checks and professional feedback. We are totally independent of repair shops – repairs get in the way of your safety inspections. That's why our reports are always honest and reliable, leaving you with information to make the best decision for your car's safety.

Our roadworthy inspections cover items including-

  • Wheels and tires
  • Steering, suspension, and braking systems
  • Structure of the vehicle
  • Lights and reflectors
  • Seats and seat belts
  • Windscreen and windows
  • Windscreen wipers and washers
  • Other safety-related items on the body, engine, or chassis

It's important to understand that a safety inspection is not a tst of mechanical reliability. It means your vehicle is in good condition to be driving safely on state roads.

What If The Vehicle Fails The Test?

If your car fails to meet the standards set by Transport Government, our assessors will give you a report that outlines what needs to be fixed in order to pass a safety inspection. You will need to fix each item on the report and then make an appointment with us so we can re-inspect the vehicle. A re-inspection can be carried out up to 14 days after the initial inspection, but after this period, the certificate will be no longer valid, and another inspection will have to take place.

Why Doesn't Totally Mobile Roadworthy Do Repairs?

Totally Mobile Roadworthy is a fully independent roadworthy service. We pride ourselves on providing unbiased assessments, and as such, we do not carry out repairs or have alliances with any mechanical workshops. This way, you can trust that when one of our fully qualified mechanics conducts your next roadworthy test, they are looking to ensure that your vehicle will be safe to drive, but they are not affiliated with any workshops whatsoever. So if you're in the market for a new auto repair shop, consider Totally Mobile Roadworthy!

Are Your Assessors Vetted?

All assessors have been vetted with a criminal history check for your peace of mind.
