Ironing Objects In a Garment Steamer

The steam iron garment steamer is a very versatile tool capable of removing creases and giving a new look to all kinds of fabrics. Garment steamers are generally considered "safer" or "less harsh" for clothes. However, what materials are generally unsuitable for garment steamers? Which fabrics can be steamed?

Fabric or clothing materials can generally be divided into natural fibers and man-made fibers. The main four natural fibers are flax (linen), cotton, wool, and silk. These four different fabrics are still used today as primary classifications, as descriptive terms for fabrics, i.e. linen, cotton, wool, or silk. These are all wrinkle-removed using a garment ironer.

Synthetic materials, including polyester, nylon, and acrylic, are manufactured through chemical synthesis rather than natural fibers derived from animals or insects. Synthetic fibers are generally more durable than natural fibers and can be easily dyed, stretched, waterproof and stain resistant. Oil from human skin causes all fibers to break down and wear down on natural fibers, while synthetic materials are non-biodegradable and therefore more durable, ideal for sports or outdoor use.

Synthetic materials are usually easy to steam with all garment steamers. The steam from a vertical garment steamer helps remove wrinkles, refresh fabrics and remove mild odors. Those garment steamers with heated metal plates allow for a crisp finish, especially when using a collar and cuff attachments.

We recommend that you use materials such as suede and velvet sparingly. These materials do not respond well to excess moisture. Suede and velvet should not have enough steam against them. However, we would say that steaming them from the back may remove creases, freshen fabrics and remove slight odors.

Ningbo Hana Electric Co., Ltd. is a garment steamer manufacturer from China. There are Steam Iron Garment Steamer, Iron Steamer Portable, and more for sale.
