How to Create a Mapping Table in Microsoft Access

Create a new template for a mapping table

In the mapping table editor, you can change the name and description of the data mapping table. You can change the description in the Description tab by clicking on the input field. Choose a column from the template and click the Modify link to make changes. Once you have saved the data mapping table, you can reuse it in another project. To edit the template, select the desired column from the Data menu. You can edit the mapping table using the template selector.

Edit a mapping table

You can edit a mapping table in a few ways. First, click the Table Instance tab. Then, click Edit Mapping Entries. You can then edit the mapping table's description, source tables, and target dimensions. You can also link the value in a mapping table to a source table for more information. If you link a value to a source table, the linked value updates every time the table changes.

Specify column mappings

Specify column maps when mapping a table in Microsoft Access allows you to select individual columns in a source table and map them to corresponding columns in the destination table. These mappings include instructions for selecting and converting data. Note that case-sensitive column names must be enclosed in single or double quotes. When creating a column mapping, make sure that you understand the type of the data in the source table before mapping it to a target table.
