Shark Apex UpLight vs. Dyson V11: The First Impression

Body

There were a lot of buzzes when Shark introduced the  Shark Apex uplight. The design of this vacuum cleaner isn't what Shark traditionally chooses when making its products. It is a big department from the regular uprights that make a name for this brand.

It is justified when people want to put it side by side with the Dyson V11 Torque Drive, given its similar look. But how do they compare to each other? Let's find out.

Shark Apex UpLight vs. Dyson V11

For quality Shark vacuum cleaners that can cost a little more than the affordable range of Rotator and Navigator lineups, you may find the UpLight models interesting. They are among the most advanced vacuums Shark has ever produced with technologies like DuoClean. And with the UpLight version, this brand shows an ambition that goes beyond just its traditional catalog.

You may already know Dyson and its signature designs. There aren't many products that it is very easy to pick up the definitive best-in-class brand, but Dyson's amazing stick vacuums manage to achieve that.

If people think of Miele when it comes to canister models. There is no other name than Dyson when we need a design approach that looks super aerodynamic and weighs less at the same time. This remarkable engineering is also the reason why Dyson could produce powerful electric motors that generate more suction power while consuming less energy and making less noise.

But the Apex Uplight from Shark is ready to challenge that establishment, according to  Joseph French from TheKingLive. In particular, the Dyson V11 Torque Drive is its direct competitor. Both of these stick models have a slender look with lots of detachable nozzles and other components.

They aren't the newest models from Shark and Dyson. But the V11 Torque Drive and Apex UpLight still have plenty of potential ahead since they were only introduced around 3 years ago. Even the warrant periods are comparable (two-year limited warranty). You must check out the fine print of the Apex UpLight, however.

But this can't make us ignore the fact that the Dyson stick costs a lot more than its Shark competitor. That is why you won't find as many advanced features on the Apex UpLight as on the V11 Torque Drive.

The algorithm-based monitoring system on the Dyson unit is a prime example. It allows the vacuum to learn your vacuuming pattern. But if you just need a traditional cleaning tool, this shouldn't be a problem with the Apex UpLight.

Our initial impressions told us that the Shark model was much heavier. To make up for it, there is a nice mechanism where you can place your foot to tilt the machine's handle back. The Dyson stick is cordless - which is a huge plus for many people and comes with one accessory more than the Apex UpLight.

On carpets, both these stick vacuums perform well enough for regular use. You will have trouble telling which model does a better job and picks up more debris. But what the Dyson model excels at is ease of use. You won't have to wrest with several buttons like the Apex UpLight.

Conclusion

Though with the same design, the Shark Apex UpLight is a more affordable choice that still performs well on most surfaces. The Dyson V11 Torque Drive comes with all the bells and whistles we expect on a premium model. The choice is really up to you.
