Google+ shuts down after 500,000 users
It's been a rough week for Google. First, they announced that they were shutting down Google+ after 500,000 users were affected by a data breach. While this may not be the largest data breach in history, it's still a huge blow to the company. And, to make matters worse, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google knew about the flaw for over six months and chose not to disclose it. This is sure to damage the company's reputation even further.

Verizon buys Yahoo
In a move that will combine two of the biggest players in the tech industry, Verizon has announced that it is buying Yahoo for $4.83 billion. The deal, which is expected to close in early 2017, will give Verizon a significant boost in the digital advertising market. And with Yahoo's search engine and other popular services like Flickr and Tumblr, the company will have a much wider reach online. For consumers, this could mean more targeted ads and better mobile service. But it remains to be seen how the two companies will integrate their operations and what changes will be made to Yahoo's popular services.

Facebook takes out a patent on live streams

2. The acquisition will help Cisco expand its collaboration portfolio and address the growing demand for cloud-based solutions.
3. Broadsoft's products are used by more than 19 million business users and are available in over 80 countries.
4. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2018, subject to customary closing conditions.
5. After the acquisition closes, Broadsoft will become a part of Cisco's Collaboration Technology Group led by Senior Vice President and General ManagerRowan Trollope.
