This is not just any boxing site. It offers lomachenko news for fans with some looking to educate themselves on this talented fighter's accomplishments. In addition to being well-versed in sweet science, his interest includes politics and economics as he studies International Relations at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
He could have been an Olympic champion in 2012 but...
In 2012, Vasyl Lomachenko had everything set for him. He was the Ukrainian National Champion in his weight class, he had never lost a fight, and he could have easily qualified for the London Olympics. At 17 years old, Lomachenko could have been a star on the rise in his first international games. But that year he got caught up in Ukraine's Euro-Maidan revolution and decided to protest on Independence Square in Kyiv. With the streets embroiled in violent protests, no one would take time out of their day to go to the boxing tournament because of fear or intimidation by pro-government thugs who were hunting protesters like rabbits.
He turned pro at age 21 in 2013...the youngest fighter ever!
Lomachenko always says he is not thinking of his opponent as much as himself and this is where the youth factor comes in, he is only thirty-one. This all sounds great but the big question on most fans' minds is whether or not we will see a Klitschko brother rematch in their career. This seems unlikely due to Vitali's age, (he will be forty-six this year) and reports suggest that it might be up to Dereck to take up the mantle for another Klitschko duel.
All that being said, Lomachenko does need a mega fight before he hangs up his gloves and it would be best for him to secure a match with one of these two brothers before then.
