The list of finalist for this year's competition was narrowed to 15 at the beginning of January, from a listing of 26, from earlier in November 2014

It's a strong pool, as always and has had many big names cut out of it. Some of the players who failed to get into the pool in their first year of eligibility include Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt and Edgerrin James.
The complete list of finalists will include Warner, Davis, Lynch, Orlando Pace, Junior Seau, Morten Andersen, Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Kevin Greene, Charles Haley, Marvin Harrison, Will Shields, coaches Coryell, Duny and Johnson, and contributors Bill Polian and Ron Wolf. Mick Tingelhoff is the lone senior finalist.

Pace, Warner and Seau are among the best performers among the player finalists. Warner led the Rams to winning a Super Bowl win, and they then took them and the Arizona Cardinals to another in an effort that was unsuccessful. Pace protected Warner's blindside in St. Louis, and Seau scored eight All-Pro selections, and was named the 1992 defensive player of the year.
The Hall of Fame announcement will occur in the Madden NFL 23 Honors game which starts in the 9th hour of 9 p.m. ET during the weekend. It will be broadcast via NBC in Phoenix Symphony Hall in Phoenix, Ariz.
