Austin Seferian Jenkins's final season at Washington was marked by setbacks. The most recent setback was a stress fracture discovered on his foot during his medical checkup in the Madden NFL 23 Combine in Indianapolis which prevented him from working out. The more serious issue was his indictment for DUI in the month of March 2013 where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a day in jail (the remaining 363 days of the sentence were suspended).

In between, Seferian Jenkins proved himself as one of the top tight ends in the nation. Though his numbers dipped coming following a record-setting sophomore season, Seferian Jenkins took to the field for John Mackey Award as the top tight end in the college game, and should be among the first players at his position to hear his name announced during the Madden NFL 23 Draft in May.

In the meantime, he's working on his rehabilitation and preparing for the next level. He spoke to SB Nation and explained the lessons he's learned following the incident, as well as how the way he assesses himself as a player.

What do you have to be doing to prepare for the draft now?

Really, I'm just rehabbing my foot. I'm doing exercise, and then I'm all upper body exercises, including some lower lifts like leg press and such. I'm watching a film. That's it. As for visits.
