Do you find yourself feeling a little overwhelmed when you see those gorgeous enticing playsets online? The way we offer our resources evokes 'sensations,' and I believe that these feelings generate heart memories.
Let me explain...
As we set up play or learning opportunities, we should consider how our children will react to them. Is it thrilling? Is it of current interest to them? Is it lovely? Color therapy has long been investigated and discovered to elicit certain sensations and reactions in all of us. This is why, at the present, there is a tendency in education towards more neutral color palettes, and why many of us feel calmer and more comfortable in areas with less clutter and less on the walls.
It helps us to concentrate on a job for longer lengths of time and prepares our children for longer hours of engaged play. There are several other advantages, but let us first examine the notion of beauty in further depth.
What is beautiful to one person may not be beautiful to another since we all see things differently, but what I do know from my teaching experiences is that everyone- young and old- appreciates modest bits of beauty when they are introduced into a place.
I recently took fresh flowers to a Playcentres Matariki occasion, and it was wonderful to watch the adults' faces light up when they saw them. Everyone recognizes the enchantment that natural beauty may bring to our lives. We grin when we see beautiful things. Genuine, real materials are a great source of beauty. At restaurants or cafés, candles (whether real or LED) and lights such as fairy lights or soft lighting elicit sentiments of relaxation and comfort. When we are comfortable and tranquil, we can play, be more creative, and eventually learn more.
