As players competed to be the first to etch their names on the Leaderboard during the first two Ladder Seasons for Diablo II: Resurrected, we were able to see just how skilled your explorers were at defending Sanctuary. In the process of doing so, they inspired terror in the hearts of their persecutors who were working against them in the process.
On February 16, the third season of The Ladder will begin, ushering in a new opportunity for intrepid explorers to compete against one another to reach level 99 as quickly as possible and collect potent loot along the way. We cannot wait to see how the eight new Rune Words will affect the leaderboard and, hopefully, how they will give new players a chance to see their name on it for the first time. In the meantime, we cannot stop thinking about how excited we are to try out the new Rune Words. In the meantime, we are looking forward to their release with bated breath.
We will also be implementing changes to the availability of Sundering Charms, existing Rune Words, and new Horadric Cube Recipes as Ladder Season Three gets underway. These changes will take effect as soon as possible after the start of the new season. In the sections that are to follow, you will find more information regarding these topics for your perusal.
The following is a schedule for the launch of Ladder's third season in North America:The date and time is the 16th of February at 17:00 PST. Europe17 February, 02:00 am, CETAsiaten o'clock on the morning of February 17th, local time (KST)
Ladder Season Three will, like it has in previous seasons, feature four distinct game modes, which are as follows:
Version Description
Pre-ExpansionLadderThe original way to play Ladder, which only makes use of the game's first four acts. This is the most common way the game is played.
Pre-ExpansionHardcore LadderThe most challenging way to play Ladder is with only one life, which is also the name of this version of the game. In this version, you can only play with the first four acts.
LadderThe standard configuration of Ladder play, which incorporates the additional content provided by the Lord of Destruction expansion pack. Players are able to progress through the game's entirety, all five acts, using this version.
Hardcore LadderThis difficult mode of Ladder play limits players to a single life and requires them to play through all five acts before they can advance. The content added by the Lord of Destruction expansion is included in this mode.
1. Following the conclusion of the second season of Ladder, all of the characters on the show will be transferred to the non-ladder group that is most suited to their individual personalities
2. If the Past box has a checkmark in it, it means that all of the items that were previously stored in the shared stash for that character group have been moved to a new set of Shared Stash tabs that are labeled Withdraw Only
3. You will be unable to retrieve any items from Ladder Season One that have been stored in the Withdraw Only tabs at this time
4. This restriction applies to all users
5. You will have access to the entirety of Ladder Season Three, allowing you to take any items from Season Two that you would like to keep for yourself and remove them from the game
6. When Ladder Season Three comes to an end, any items that were kept in the Ladder Season Three Shared Stash will be prioritized over this specific collection of withdraw-only stash tabs
7. This decision will be made after the Ladder Season Three Shared Stash has been emptied
8. It is imperative that you retrieve any items that you require before that time, as failing to do so will result in their permanent loss
A Whole Host of New Runic Words, Counting to Eight
The secret behind rune words lies in the fact that each one, on its own, possesses a significant amount of power; however, when spoken together, they unleash an even more powerful energy. This is the source of the mystery behind rune words. Invoking these ancient forces and allowing them to transform your items enables you to transform mundane items into a destructive force that is capable of smiting demon hordes. This is accomplished by turning your ordinary items into a weapon.
There are now a total of eight new Rune Words available to use in both the Ladder and Offline Single-Player game modes. The following are some of the goals that we have set for ourselves with the implementation of these new Rune Words in Diablo II:Players will have the opportunity to come up with creative strategies as they compete to reach level 99 thanks to the addition of some new elements of strategy that will be introduced into the competitive metagame by the Resurrected content update. The vast majority of these rune words are designed to improve resistance bonuses, while the remaining rune words focus on increasing movement speed and improving assassin and druid builds in their respective roles.
Because we liked the way that Bulwark, Temper, and Ground were currently configured, we came to the conclusion that it would be best to maintain the status quo.
We came to the conclusion that the scope of applications for Cures was too narrow, so we added the Cleaning Aura to expand its usefulness and make it more flexible. Take note that the item's base Poison Duration reduction has decreased, but the addition of Cleansing Aura has resulted in the item's Poison Duration reduction having a positive net change as a result of the inclusion of Cleansing Aura.
Hearth: In order to expand upon the premise of this Rune Word, we gave it a little bit more oomph in order to solidify it as a viable option for gear when dealing with foes that deal Cold Damage. This was done in order to make Hearth a viable option for combating foes that deal Cold Damage. The reason for doing this was to make it a more convenient choice overall.
The majority of the feedback and recommendations that were offered pertained to the armor's overall appearance. Even though the majority of our efforts were directed toward bettering that form, we saw that there was also room for improvement in the weapon form. When it came to the Armor, one of our goals was to give it a greater offensive utility while also including some defensive stats in the form of All Resistances. Another one of our goals was to make the Armor more visually appealing. In order to increase the weapon's viability above and beyond the utility it had before the buff, we wanted to improve it so that using it as a primary weapon was a more appealing option.
Metamorphosis: We made a move in the direction of providing Metamorphosis with a very minor stat boost by taking this step. We want this Rune Word to be able to compete fairly with other items in its slot for the title of best in slot for Shapeshifter Druids.
When it came to increasing the effectiveness of the Mosaic Rune Word, we focused all of our efforts on a single front in order to maximize our chances of success. Because we wanted to provide you with a greater variety of choices, we increased the probability that you will not exhaust all of your charges from 25 percent to 50 percent. This gives you the choice to either wield one weapon to get that 50% chance or dual wield to get that 100% chance of not using up your charges. If you choose to wield one weapon, you will get that 50% chance. We not only improved the functionality of the interaction between not consuming charges and charge maintenance, but we also added a new effect to it.
