Overlay maps usually allow players to maneuver while looking at the map. They're a staple of games with large areas to understand more about, especially MMORPGs. Though Diablo 4 does incorporate a minimap which supports you see where you are going, it would appear that Blizzard wants your vision on the action instead of peeled to some map. Some fans applauded the modification, though another medication is stung through the planned omission. Several proponents of the feature observe that Diablo 2 may be the game that popularized overlay maps within the genre to start with.

"I'm not really a fan [of overlay maps]," said one Reddit user. "I comprehend the purpose to ensure that people are instructed to look in the game, but I found myself just constantly pulling in the big map, which felt cumbersome. The choice takes away from the enjoyment of the game."
