A canned motor pump is a type of centrifugal pump that uses an enclosure around the motor to house both the electric motor and hydraulic components. This design provides superior protection against leakage and contamination, resulting in less maintenance and longer service life. Canned motor pumps are especially well-suited for handling hazardous or corrosive liquids such as acids, alkalis, solvents, and hydrocarbons. They are also used in applications where direct contact between pumped media and atmosphere must be avoided, such as food processing, pharmaceutical production, and medical operations.
