What are the advantages of ferritic stainless steel seamless pipe and tube?

Body

Huzhou Nanxun Yintuo Special Material Technology Co., Ltd. mainly provides the development and production of stainless steel seamless steel pipes. It mainly includes the development of ferritic stainless steel seamless pipe and tube. Below we briefly introduce the relevant characteristics of ferritic stainless steel seamless pipes:

In principle, ferritic stainless steel seamless pipes are ferritic at all temperatures. This is achieved by a low content of austenite forming elements (mainly nickel) and a high content of ferrite forming elements (mainly chromium). Ferrite types (such as 4003 and 4016) are mainly used for household appliances, catering equipment, and other uses that have no special requirements for corrosive conditions.

Steel with high chromium content (for example, 4762 has a chromium content of 24%) is used at high temperatures. In this case, its sulfur-resistant flue gas meter is an advantage. However, the risk of embrittlement at 475°C and the precipitation of brittle σ phase in high chromium steel must always be considered. Ferritic stainless steels, such as 4521 with extremely low carbon and nitrogen content, are most widely used where there is a risk of stress corrosion cracking.

The yield strength (Rp 0.2) of ferritic stainless steel seamless pipe is slightly higher than that of austenitic steel, but the elongation at break is lower. Another characteristic of ferritic steel and austenitic materials is that the strain hardening rate of ferritic steel is much lower.

Ferritic steel grades have been developed to provide a set of stainless steels to resist corrosion and oxidation, while being highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking. These steels are magnetic but cannot be hardened or strengthened by heat treatment. They can be cold worked and softened by annealing. As a whole, they are more corrosion resistant than martensitic grades, but generally not as good as austenitic grades. Like martensitic steels, they are pure chromium steels without nickel. They are used in decorative strips, sinks and automotive applications, especially exhaust systems.
