Whether you are thinking of going to a treatment facility for yourself or are planning to help a relative or friend go to one, you might be wondering what amenities to expect. Residential treatment facilities, like
polaristeen.com, are usually open for people that either want help with substance abuse or they need help with a mental health disorder.

All treatment centers are different so some will have more amenities and accommodations than others. Many facilities allow you to do a quick tour of the center if you want to see the amenities before you commit to going there.

This guide will cover the basic amenities you can expect to find in treatment centers but some places might have more or less depending on their location and what they offer patients.

Amenities Offered at Residential Treatment Facilities

There are many treatment facilities for different prices and the price will determine the amenities that you are offered. However, all reliable and reputable rehab centers will offer the following:

  • Comfortable rooms: All rooms in the treatment facility should be clean and comfortable. They should have basic furnishings like beds, tables, couches, blankets, and pillows.
  • Food: Most meals should be nutritious especially since most patients are recovering from mental illness or substance abuse. Food is usually good quality and has all the vitamins and minerals you need for recovery.
  • Exercise: This is very important for your health so most treatment facilities have a gym or other place where you can work out. You should have time carved out in your schedule every day for exercise time.
  • Supervision: All rehab centers should have someone working there who can provide medical support and professional support in case you feel ill or need someone to talk to.

State-funded and Free Centers

State-funded and free rehab centers usually only have basic amenities. This is because they are publicly funded and do not have the budget to have endless amenities. However, you should still have all the basic things you need to recover in peace and quiet.

They usually offer detox services as well as medical monitoring and the ability to manage your symptoms.

You might also have the chance to connect with other publicly funded programs so you can find opportunities for job placement, childcare, transportation, and education if needed.

The rooms are very basic in public rehab centers and the food is also basic as well but still healthy and big enough portions.

Mid-Level Treatment Centers

These treatment centers are private so you will have to pay fees to attend them. The care is more intensive and they also offer additional helpful services including marriage counseling, life skills classes, case management, and detoxification.

If you plan to sleep at the treatment center, your room will have all the furnishings as well as a few decorations. You might share the room with one or two other people. You will also have a shared bathroom and a community dining hall where you will eat with other patients.

Although you will be expected to do some chores around the treatment center, there are also housekeeping services that make sure the spaces are clean and free of bugs and illnesses.

These treatment centers usually accept health insurance and private payment but you will need to call ahead to see what kinds of payment will be accepted.

Upper-Level Treatment Centers

These centers are much more expensive and have tons of amenities compared to some of the other places that might be publicly funded. You will have access to many extra programs like holistic treatments, group counseling, family therapy, outpatient programs, and inpatient services.

The staff that works at these centers are highly advanced and have a lot of training and credentials under their belt.

Most bedrooms are shared with one other person but there are private room options available but they usually come at an extra fee. There are exercise rooms, outdoor spaces, meeting rooms, game rooms, and sometimes a TV room and a library.

These treatment centers offer more food options including healthy meals or meals for those that might have to follow a specific diet. Some places even have a private chef that does all the meals.

These centers usually only allow private payment so you will not be able to pay with insurance.

Luxury Treatment Centers

These centers are very upscale and usually only accept private payment so they are, unfortunately, out of reach for many people to be able to attend.

They usually have tons of different rooms and amenities you can take advantage of. Most of these centers offer a wide range of in-patient services and you have the opportunity to connect with other patients through group therapy and in your free time in the various places around the center.

Rooms can be private are shared. Most of the centers are built in large green places with plenty of landscaping so you also have the chance to enjoy the outdoors. The food is usually next level with a chef, locally grown food, and organic ingredients.

Some of these places even have hiking trails, swimming pools, and other ways to enjoy nature. In your free time, you might even be able to learn a new hobby like knitting, gardening, or baking.

Luxury centers have the most amenities because they are private and people usually need to pay a good sum of money to be able to have in-patient services here.

The Bottom Line

Amenities in residential treatment centers vary widely because not all have the same funding and location. Publicly funded treatment centers usually have much fewer amenities because their funding is lacking and they are not able to provide all the resources and amenities.

Private rehab centers usually have more amenities. Either way though, you should have everything you or your relative needs to recover.

Always make sure you tour a treatment center before committing to it and always ask to see the facilities before joining.
