When most people think about how to improve bench press form, they tend to focus primarily on the lifting aspect of the exercise, and ignore the proper setup. Pressing different body parts simultaneously is a great way to strengthen each muscle group but it can also lead to injuries. In order to avoid accidents and stay in good physical condition, you should spend some time working out with the proper bench presses in a gym, or even at home. You want to start out with very light weights and keep the reps low until you are ready for more. This will ensure that you do not injure yourself during your work out routine.

The first thing that you should do when you learn how to improve bench press form is take a rubber mat or an old sweatshirt and lay it across the bench. Make sure that the item has a thick base so that it does not move when you push off of it. You will also want to have something sturdy to place your hands on to help you keep the barbell straight and let your arms straight as you do your workout. The reason for this is to make sure that your hands will not slip when you press against them. Also remember that when you grip the barbell that you should be able to see the knurling of the barbell by keeping both your thumbs and forefingers on the barbell.

The next thing that you need to know about how to improve bench press form is that you should not lock out the barbell. There are many individuals who try to get in a better position to lift the weight than they intended, which can result in them getting injured. You want to keep the barbell straight and your elbows pointing toward your feet throughout your workout.

It is important to keep your back straight throughout your workout, as well. This comes in pretty hand with how to improve bench press form because you will want to keep your back straight so that your chest can appreciate the work that it is doing. To do this, just lie down on the bench and begin by squeezing your shoulder muscles until they are contracted. Then you will simply rest for a few seconds before going back to the starting position. Do not perform any kind of cheating motions during this process.

Another important point to keep in mind when learning how to improve bench press form is that you need to breathe deeply. When you are in the lifting position your body will not be utilizing many of your muscles, which means that there is no reason for you to take in a lot of air. Once you have done the required repetitions of a particular weight or number of repetitions that you deem safe, take a deep breath before you go back to the starting position on the bench.

As you can see there are many different elements that go into learning how to improve bench press form, but there are only two major exercises that you must remember to focus on. As was mentioned in the introduction to this article, the choice between extensions and spot exercises really comes down to your own personal goals. If you are a hardgainer who is looking to build big pecs, then you should do your extension exercises. If you are looking to strengthen your lower back or shoulder muscles, then you should do spot exercises.
