Can I use my battery charger with a Sealed AGM Battery?

　　The fact is that it depends on many factors, from the purpose of the battery to the style of the battery and the amount of power required. That being said, you should remember one rule: battery chargers made for flooded batteries should not be used for VRLA batteries (including gel and Sealed AGM batteries).

　　The difference between VRLA battery and flooded battery

　　There are two main types of lead-acid batteries: flooded batteries and valve-regulated lead-acid batteries (or VRLA batteries). Flooded batteries use free-flowing liquid electrolytes, while VRLA batteries have stable electrolytes by suspending them in a gel form (gel battery) or absorbing them in a glass mat (absorbent glass mat or Sealed AGM Battery). Therefore, valve-regulated lead-acid batteries are sometimes referred to as sealed lead-acid batteries. Although flooded batteries are still commonly used today because they are economical and can provide a large amount of initial charging, they also require more maintenance, more ventilation, and tend to lose power faster.

　　The sealed AGM Battery and gel battery are naturally more stable, and the discharge rate is much lower than that of a flooded battery. They also have different requirements from flooded batteries. Chargers configured for flooded batteries may burn out VRLA batteries and cause them to die.
