Over the past few months, the continuous outbreak of coronaviruses around the world has caused serious problems in production around the world, which has affected the gaming industry. In order to ensure the safety of developers' lives, Blizzard's game studio also launched a remote work plan. During a post-earnings financial call today, company executives said that this move posed a daunting challenge to the company's next plan, and many of the planned work could not be completed on time. This means that Blizzard will not be able to provide players with enough new works and new content this year, but at the same time Blizzard is confident in the next Call of Duty game and World of Warcraft Shadowlands expansion, they said that these two works will come out this year.
Chief operation officer Daniel Alegre stated that much of the game development process is not suitable for remote work, such as creative collaboration, motion capture, voiceover work, localization, and quality assurance. To this end, Blizzard needs to develop suitable mitigation measures to solve the specific problems that may be encountered in these links.
"Importantly, in accordance with the work to date, we still expect you'll deliver a substantial slate of content in the remainder of 12 months. This includes the following premium discharge of Call of Duty, two titles determined by library IP from Activision, the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion, regional testing for first time mobile titles, and recurring live operations across our key franchises."
Blizzard president J. Allen Brack got a little more specific concerning the Shadowlands release target, that is coming somewhat later than we thought. Since most previous WoW expansions have found its way to July or August, we expected it showing up during the summer time as well, but Brack said inside the call that it'll be out nearer to the end of the entire year.
"Our teams have inked a really good job in shifting for you to use
WOW Classic Gold For Sale home," he stated. "We made it possible to welcome select players into your closed alpha for Shadowlands recently, and due to the hard work on the team, Shadowlands is on the right track to launch for Q4 on this year."
Interestingly, while Activision seems firmly focused on Call of Duty and Shadowlands, there was clearly no mention by any means of two other big games we're getting excited about: Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4. Either of which could be one with the two "library IP" games Alegre referenced, but that will be a tremendous undersell—I can't imagine Blizzard would give the opportunity to mention them by name when it was in a posture to do so.
