Why Is The Metal Injection Molding Process Suitable For Door Lock Parts?

Body

The metal injection molding process produces high-quality finished metal parts for door locks by molding metal alloy powder into plastic. MIM combines two proven processes: plastic injection molding and powder metallurgy. The process shapes metal alloys like plastic.

The MIM process is ideal for producing relatively small (1 to 50 grams), complex shapes, metal parts with tight tolerances, high strength, and good surface finish requirements—parts that most smart door lock manufacturers used these locks parts are purchased as machined parts or investment castings.

Other parts can be investment cast, but these require secondary operations such as machining to add features and polishing to improve surface finish. However, the MIM process offers great flexibility in part design, shape, and features. MIM parts are near net shape and require no secondary machining; they are 96% – 99% dense, depending on the alloy. The metal injection molding process isn't just for steel either. It allows the selection of a wide variety of metal alloys including stainless steel, alloy steel, tool steel, brass, copper, titanium, tungsten, ceramic, and many specialty alloys such as ASTM F17 nickel-free stainless steel.

NingBo GSK Powder Metallurgy Co., Ltd. is a CNC machining auto parts supplier, specializing in various MIM-Metal Injection Molding Parts, like powder metal pulley
