The NPD Group today released its monthly sales report for November 2015, which tracks new, physical sales at retail inside the United States. Unsurprisingly, that it was Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Fallout 4, and Star Wars Battlefront that became available on top.
What is interesting is the idea that Black Ops III sold better on Xbox One than every other platform. Call of Duty is associated with Xbox platforms for a long time, as a result of Microsoft's deal that saw DLC arrive at its FIFA 19 Coins systems first. "In comparison, a year ago special editions for that Top 10 games generated three percent of units and five percent of dollar spending within the top 10."
In an argument shared with GameSpot, Activision senior VP Rob Kostich said, "Black Ops III was the greatest release in North America in November using a wide-margin in units and dollars sold-thru. According to NPD, Call of Duty also was the largest discharge of any title in North America since 2013, dependant on physical units sold at retail in their launch month. There's tremendous momentum for Call of Duty this holiday. Both retail and digital sales are up significantly versus exactly the same time a year ago. And our community has responded enthusiastically, driving engagement to new franchise highs on next gen consoles in their first month of release."
