Packs, that were available at 6 pm BST on the evening of last night, offered players the possibility of trading their FUT Hero item in FIFA 23 The items have the potential to be worth millions coins for 25,000 coins.

While EA rectified the error around 25 minutes after releasing the pack, it did not stop millions coins worth of value from disappearing from FIFA Ultimate Team in the event that players were forced to sell their FUT Hero items in a frenzy, due to the huge influx of supply.

FUT Hero items are very scarce players and are available in specific packs in Ultimate Team. FUT Hero cards are presented to players who have made an important contribution to clubs or have become an instant favorite like the former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung.

Due to the item's uncommon rarity, they're usually extremely expensive in FIFA 23 Ultimate's marketplace for transfers including some items like Yaya Toure being sold for 1.9 million coins, which a prominent third-party marketplace for selling coins estimates at under PS400.

But EA has released it in error, flooding the market with a massive quantity of the game, and saw the prices plummet rapidly with some customers losing more than 100,000 FUT coins in value. This is about PS200 when purchased from a third party.

EA has not yet commented on the error. The damage to the market is long-lasting. A majority, if certainly not all players are losing value, and although the market has slightly recovered following the removal of the pack and in turn, the lack of supplies with FUT Hero items, the loss of coins is irreversible.

The players who were able to purchase the pack might be in some luck since the pack was advertised as not tradeable (meaning the item couldn't be sold through the marketplace for transfers) in the past where EA has sold a product with an incorrect description usually, they compensate those who purchased the pack. This means that some players could receive more than two FUT Hero cards with as little as 25,000 coins.
