Body

Elevator Installation Platform is needed in order to work at a great height. However, for those working on them, there are many risks involved. Know about some of the main safety precautions that you have to follow prior to working on such a platform, so as to be able to keep completely safe.

Use Hoists

You need to check the hoists of a Tower Maintenance Platform before you use each time, to ensure that they are completely reliable, robust and safe. The hoists need to be preserved after some use cycles, as part of the safety precautions of the platforms.

Use Tiebacks

Risks of falling down can be there, if suspension equipment end up failing. These risks may be prevented in case tiebacks are in proper position. The strength of wire ropes needs to be equal to that of suspension ropes. Tiebacks are not required for outrigger beams, if these are directly connected to the floor or deck with bolts.

Use of Fall Protection Equipments

It is necessary to use Fall Protection equipments on scaffold hoist platform, so as to avoid falling down from them. There is a need for using a secondary brake for the hoist. It can stop a hoist platform and automatically hold it at the time of emergency. The mechanical component can get activated automatically if the suspension wire rope fails. It can even come into effect in case the inclination angle of the platform is more than 14 degrees or while it is getting lowered.
