Without ever having bought a product, we evaluate it by its packaging. If we get a well-cared for and original shoe box, it gives us the feeling that the product will be better because behind that packaging we believe that there is a leading, young and innovative company.
For the first time, we corroborated these theories in the first study comparing packaging with marketing communication channels. The PointLogic report for ProCarton reveals that 65% of respondents (a target of more than 2,000 Germans) believe that it is necessary to see images of products and their packaging, especially in online food purchases.
A good packaging serves as a marketing tool to evaluate the product it contains. But, in this study, it goes further and highlights the use of information on packaging; being one of the most valued channels after the Internet giant and, most importantly, putting it at its height.
From the study we extract that the packaging has a vital influence on the purchase decision. Interestingly, younger consumers are the ones who pay more attention to packaging: whether it is recyclable, the color, design, etc. So we know that packaging has the future assured.
Packaging is essential in the digital world. On the one hand, it can connect consumers to the Internet through the increasingly implanted QR codes and, on the other, consumers want to see and evaluate the packaging when they buy online. And you, do you already personalize your boxes?
