Original OSRS gold developer Adam1210 has shared his views on Reddit in which he said that allowing Runelite HD to continue would be beneficial for future updates developed by Jagex.

"I do not agree with including it in the "third third party guidelines,"" Adam1210 said. "Most of those guidelines attempt to define what the line of distinction between quality of life] and cheating lies and I'm sure that most people would agree that the current guidelines are a great representation of that, and it helps keeps sic the game integrity.

There is no unfair advantage for improved graphics, and it will only impact you if you choose to enable it. Thus, it's simply a violation of guidelines. It's unjust for everyone and I wish Jagex could think about it."

Some fans who are part of The Runelite HD project have taken to the town square of Falador which is the capital of one of Runescape's principal kingdoms. They are holding protests like the protest World of Warcraft players held in July. Fans can be seen in the video sharing messages of criticism against Jagex for their decision as well as hashtags like #Free117. Another video shows other players "marching" around Falador Square.

A few years back, something unusual began to happen within a video game called Old School RuneScape. Suddenly there were lots of new players playing the game and they were behaving in pretty much the same manner. They were playing for hours at a time, doing the same things repeatedly.
